Hello and welcome to the Psychology Coach Program. All students who are enrolled in PSYC 2000 Psychology Seminar: The Psychology Professional are eligible for this program.<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t

What is a Psychology Coach?<\/strong> A Psychology Coach is a Walden University BS in Psychology full-time faculty member. He or she is there to help to guide students as they navigate through their schooling and consider future career prospects and planning. An effective Psychology Coach is there to direct you as you make decisions in preparation for a future career and \/ or graduate school. Your Psychology Coach can also assist you in locating the appropriate Walden contacts and answer program-related questions you may have.<\/p>\n

How the Psychology Coach Program works: <\/strong>The Psychology Coach program is completely optional and voluntary. It is up to you to contact your Psychology Coach to start the conversation. <\/em><\/p>\n

The following are the guidelines and expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. When you initiate contact with your Psychology Coach the first time, begin by introducing yourself, and mention how you believe your Psychology Coach might be able to assist you (e.g., \u201cAs of now I do not have specific questions, but at some point I would like to contact you again to discuss my career plans\u201d).<\/li>\n
  2. After the initial e-mail correspondence, you and your Psychology Coach may decide to set up a short phone call to discuss your immediate questions (if any). Please keep in mind that although your assigned Psychology Coach can discuss your academic progress with you and your questions that you have concerning courses within the psychology department, the Psychology Coach does not take the place of your Student Success Advisor<\/a>. For example, the Psychology Coach cannot perform degree audits or help with petitions or course withdrawals, and they are not able to answer questions about student loans or other financial aid<\/a> questions, but they can try to assist you with finding out who to contact when\/if the need arises. You should plan to stay in contact with your assigned Psychology Coach \u2013 the idea is that you have a team<\/em> of support to assist you while you are on your student journey.<\/li>\n
  3. You and your Psychology Coach decide when to meet (i.e., there is no required set schedule). We believe the program is most beneficial when communication is \u201cas needed.\u201d Email and scheduled phone meetings are both okay.<\/li>\n
  4. If you do wish to speak to your Psychology Coach at some point about employment plans or an application to graduate school, be sure to keep the documents that you started in the PSYC 2000 course up to date (e.g., your resume, cover letter, personal statement, etc.) as your Psychology Coach can serve an excellent resource for feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Your assigned Psychology Coach is a faculty member from the BS Psychology program and is based on your last name.<\/p>\n
